A DentalBlogs contributor, Dental Products Report technology columnist, and respected speaker and teacher, Dr. Larry Emmott writes about the paperless dental office in DPR this month. His article, “Paperless Strategies 101,” discusses what “paperless office” really means and how a dentist like you can get there.
Dr. Emmott believes that the right people and technology are key factors – but you should also prepare for a substantial financial investment and training commitment. As for software, Dr. Emmott says you’ll need an operating system, practice management system, and image management system. He believes Microsoft Office has the tools you’ll need when it comes to business software. Hardware should include networked computers hooked up to a printer, as well as a scanner. Technology outside of traditional computers will involve many tools, and this part of your practice will grow over time. For instance, consider a digital camera, digital radiography, monitors in the ops, a tablet PC, and Florida Probe. Don’t think you can make the transition alone? Check out these resources…
