ADA plans relief effort for Hurricane Katrina victims [1]

ADA plans relief effort for Hurricane Katrina victims Disaster grants, loans available from ADA Foundation; contributions sought for relief fund By Stacie Crozier

You can help the victims of Hurricane Katrina — dentist colleagues and their families and private citizens alike — by supporting the ADA/ADA Foundation response to the disaster. As the White House, which called Katrina “one of the most devastating storms in our nation’s history,” was preparing to ask Congress for extra money to help the stricken Gulf Coast region, the ADA was also putting its disaster response plan into motion.
The ADA and the ADA Foundation on Aug. 31 each contributed $50,000 towards disaster assistance to be used as seed funding for the ADA Foundation’s Disaster Response Fund to help victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Donors to the ADAF disaster relief fund can designate how they want their contributions to be used, including:

assisting dentists and their families in need of food, clothing and shelter;

supporting ADAF grants to organizations providing dental services to affected areas;

supporting the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund;

assisting the recovery needs of the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry;

or to be applied wherever needed most.

You can find the contribution form online at www.adafoundation.org [2]or you can contact the Foundation by calling 1-312-440-2547 or e-mailing adaf@ada.org [3]for a form or more information.

Though we were initially skeptical of the benefits of pure zirconia copings, a few recent cases have changed our minds. Specifically, we have had a great deal of success using zirconia copings to provide exceptional implant restorations and posterior bridges. This brings to question which restoration is best. From our experience (without the vested interest […]

The Patterson meeting in St Paul with dental technology leaders from across the nation was very nice and worthwhile. First off I have to compliment Patterson on great hospitality and a wonderful dinner.
Interesting bits of news
Patterson has extended its exclusive marketing agreement with Schick to 2007. According to the Patterson reps 53% of the sensors sold this year are Schick
Patterson also extended its contract with Sirona and Cerec to 2017. They told us that at this time 8% of US dentists are using a CAD CAM system.
Eaglesoft Image is ready to go as a stand alone product as well as an integral part of Eaglesoft Practice Management. They have increased the number of direct sensors that integrate to the program to twenty.

August 28th, 2005 · No Comments

I have researched the purchase of a small 4 x 6 photo printer for home use that does not require a computer to print. This Epson seems the way to go. Most are dye sublimation printers. This one is an ink jet. Prints are about half the cost at 29 cents each.  That is about […]
