The National Association of Dental Laboratories launched a new consumer website to address public concerns about lead in dental restorations. The website covers topics such as What is a dental lab; What should we know about lead; and What are symptoms of lead poisoning. It also features a page for related news reports and commentary from the NADL.
The NADL consists of 43 commercial lab associations in the US which represent 1600 dental labs nationwide. The website states, ” Although actual numbers can only be provided by US Customs, it is estimated that anywhere from 10 – 20% of the $8 billion US dental laboratory sales is manufactured in laboratories located outside the United States. The remaining 80 – 90% is manufactured in the United States , largely by family owned dental laboratories who employ less than 10 dental laboratory technicians.”
