Finally! The FDA has cleared BIOLASE’s Waterlase® and Waterlase® MD for root canal disinfection procedures, 15 million of which are performed annually in the US alone. This is the first laser approved by the US Food and Drug Administration for root canal procedures.

Many dentists and dental professionals agree, laser dentistry is more precise, faster, and less invasive than traditional techniques. The same is true for laser root canal disinfection. Accessing, cleaning, and shaping root canals are the primary procedures that the laser has gained FDA clearance for.

The procedure and related information will debut at the American Association of Endodontics Annual Session, April 9 to 12 in Vancouver, then at the World Clinical Laser Institute Taiwan Super Symposium, April 11 to 13 in Taipei.
