Disaster grants, loans available from ADA Foundation; contributions sought for relief fund

You can help the victims of Hurricane Katrina — dentist colleagues and their families and private citizens alike — by supporting the ADA/ADA Foundation response to the disaster.
As the White House, which called Katrina “one of the most devastating storms in our nation’s history,” was preparing to ask Congress for extra money to help the stricken Gulf Coast region, the ADA was also putting its disaster response plan into motion.

The ADA and the ADA Foundation on Aug. 31 each contributed $50,000 towards disaster assistance to be used as seed funding for the ADA Foundation’s Disaster Response Fund to help victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Donors to the ADAF disaster relief fund can designate how they want their contributions to be used, including:

  • assisting dentists and their families in need of food, clothing and shelter;
  • supporting ADAF grants to organizations providing dental services to affected areas;
  • supporting the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund;
  • assisting the recovery needs of the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry;
  • or to be applied wherever needed most.

You can find the contribution form online at www.adafoundation.org or you can contact the Foundation by calling 1-312-440-2547 or e-mailing adaf@ada.org for a form or more information.
