Dentists Spread Disease…Awareness with Preventive Tests

April 23rd, 2010 · 2 Comments

As research and science continue to develop, we’re learning the importance of oral health to the health of the body as a whole. Dentistry is gaining higher regard as a necessity of good health; oral healthcare is getting off the bench and getting in the game. To further the importance of dental care, dentist-administered tests can reveal a person’s proclivity for dental decay, as well as serious conditions, like severe gum disease and HPV. Some of the tests provide early detection of conditions, like oral cancer, which allows for proactive treatment that literally saves lives.

A great synopis of the variety of tests that can help us ward off disease both orally and systemically! The HPV test is a new one I will have to look into and add for full patient care in my dental practice. Thanks!

We are very aware of cancer screening in our practice. Incorporating a diabetic check isn’t something that we had considered. But considering the ever-rising cases of diabetes in our society we think this will be an important factor to consider and incorporate. Thank You.
