Waterlase MD Turbo Released

March 2nd, 2009 · 1 Comment

Biolase is releasing an upgraded laser to the market. The Waterlase MD Turbo hard and soft laser system features a new handpiece and software cleared by the FDA. This new model offers a longer top life, better realiability, and a simplified set of tips and settings. It will also increase the speed of cavity preparations, rivaling the time it takes with a high-speed drill.

Waterlase MD Turbo will be introduced at the Chicado Midwinter Meeting February 26 to March 1. Shipping begins in March of this year, and upgrade kits for the existing model will be released later in 2009. Biolase hopes that Waterlase MD Turbo will speed integration of lasers into dental practices world wide.  Visit Biolase online to learn more about this new dental laser.

This looks like a very exciting development for the dental profession. The Waterlase MD was a leap forward in 2004–once the “bugs” got worked out. The Turbo appears to be the “next big step” in the evolution of lasers which I believe (with proper training), all dentists should be providing their patients on a daily basis. Hopefully the transition from product development to practice use will be smooth.
