A Group Of US Dentists Have Created a Conceptual Model for Change
Caries is the most common chronic disease of childhood. The most. That’s significant. So what can we do about it? A group of great minds from the Department of Pediatrics; Institute of Health Policy, School of Medicine; Department of Preventive and Restorative Sciences, School of Dentistry, University of California; Statworks; and National Center for Health Statistics came together to work on a conceptual model for change. The model covers genetic and biological factors, social environment, physical environment, health behaviors, and dental medical care. It is intended to start us (me, you, dental professionals, and the public as a whole) on a path to improved oral health in children.
