Public Rally and Press Event at the ADA Meeting – Mercury in Teeth is Toxic!

October 4th, 2005 · No Comments

Friday, October 7, 8:00 am
The Pennsylvania Convention Center
12th And Arch Streets,
Center City Philadelphia

On Friday, October 7, a major public rally and news conference will take place in Philadelphia when the PA Coalition for Mercury-Free Dentistry and various consumer groups challenge the American Dental Association’s support and cover-up of mercury-based dental fillings.

While the ADA brings in 45,000 members to their annual conference at the PA Convention Center, expert health professionals and activists intend to expose the notorious "gag rule" preventing dentists from telling their patients that "silver" fillings are really 50% mercury, a potent neurotoxin. Endorsed by the ADA to be harmless, amalgam fillings are suspected of causing birth defects and reproductive harm.

The lead speaker at the news conference will be Philadelphia Councilwoman-at-Large Blondell Reynolds Brown, who has introduced an ordinance calling for informed choice about mercury in dentistry, and strict environmental rules. Dental offices are a major source of mercury in the PA wastewater.
