Easy, quick checklist for photographing an event

August 19th, 2005 · No Comments

I can’t tell you how many times early in my photography learning curve I forgot 1 small detail that had a huge impact on the quality of my images. Unfortunately you can’t go back and retake that image of the winning run, goal, smile or spontaneous event you happen to capture. So here are some easy steps to remeber so you don’t kick yourself later.

1. Check your gear for the items you need. Even if it is a tiny camera pouch.
2, Make sure you have your camera. Start taking it with you where you go. You will be amazed at the photo ops you have if you use your imagination and just open your eyes.
3. Make sure your battery is charges and take a charged spare.
4. Make sure your capture card is empty and that you have enough storage space for ample picture taking.
5. Make sure you have the right lens.
6. Carry waterproof bags or use appropriate protection so you can shoot in an array of weather types.
7. Check your camera settings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That goes for ISO, DOF, Mode etc.
8. Take a flash.
9. Have fun 🙂 !!
