This lens is Canon’s first ultra wide angle lens made specifically for the 20D and the rebel. Because of the FOVCF (field of view crop factor) of 1.6x the lens focal length is actually 16x35mm. This is Canon’s attempt to give the photographer a true wide angle approach to picture taking. The lens give you close focusing up to 9.5 inches. You can create incredible panaramic scenes with this lens. You also can stand in the back of a room and capture the entire scene. There is some distoration and it takes time to learn how to use this lens. However once you get the hang of it, you can get very creative with it. This lens is becoming one of my favorites . The cost is around 900 dollars. That said it is a very cheap alternative to Canon’s prime EF 14mm f2.8L USM which costs 2000 dollars. Granted you lose 2 stops but the 10-22mm lens is still a keeper. Besides that you have the added range shooting up to 22mm (effective 35mm).
