New research indicates that osteoporosis and related fractures occur more often than heart disease, stroke, and breast cancer. The findings also surmised that dentists and physicians collaborating for early detection could improve the situation. An article at Science Daily suggests, “All health care professionals involved in the care of all dental patients, particularly patients who are taking oral biophosphates, should discuss patient care decisions with the patient’s physician, conclude the authors.”
On a similar note, some dentists regularly assess patients for conditions such as breast cancer and diabetes. The practice has helped many patients treat serious health problems early, thus reducing the potential for catastrophe.
