National Smile Month is Now International, May 18 to June 17

April 23rd, 2008 · No Comments

UK-based British Dental Health Foundation (BDHF) and the sister organization, International Dental Health Foundation (IDHF), are partnering with Oral Health America (OHA) to promote proper oral healthcare for better overall health during National Smile Month. In Europe, the event is the largest of its kind, and thousands participate. Important information about the oral health/whole health link reaches millions as a result. Though National Smile Month has been an annual event in Europe since 1976, 2008 is the first year that an American organization, the OHA, is participating, and the theme is “Brush for Your Health.” BDHF recommends that dentists set up displays in their offices, schedule speaking engagements at schools, get the word out to the press, and offer healthy snacks in their reception areas. If you want to join the National Smile Month efforts to raise awareness about oral health in the US and across the globe, order a free campaign handbook at smilemonth@dentalhealth.org.
