Both my orthodontist and periodontist have cone beam technology. The periodontist uses it for implant placement, while the orthodontist does imaging for TMJ. My practice is building a place for cone beam, so we can plan implant cases and assess the TMJ join in house. Cone beam may replace intraoral X-rays as the technology becomes better. This technology will continue to come down in price and become a mainstay in the next 5-10 years.
