My best advice for new practice owners is for them to get clear on their practice vision, then share that vision with team members and marketing people. Often, when we start a new practice, we aren’t specific enough about the kind of dentistry we want to do and who our target market is. Instead, we hope for busyness and profits. Years later, we wake up and realize that the practice isn’t what we had hoped. It takes time to determine what your area of expertise will be, but it’s wise to start thinking about it as soon as possible, then share the vision. You should get clear about what you want and where you want to go, then you can attract the kinds of patients you want. If you wait and let fate take its course, you may one day find that it would take a lot of undoing to reposition your practice for a new vision.
