For all dentists, it’s important to do community outreach work. Today after lunch, I went to career day at the local high school to speak to seniors about the different dental field career paths, from front desk to hygiene to becoming a dentist. These students may not have the opportunity to learn about dentistry as a career choice, unless we make them aware. I also have an upcoming lecture to junior dental students at Medical College of Virginia. I’ll talk to them about elective esthetics. I run into dentists who think that students would show no interest in dentistry, but they definitely do! For most, dentistry has been good to us, so set aside time to talk to high school, college, and dental students to be good stewards of the profession.
