ADA Handout online access extended

October 26th, 2007 · No Comments

The deadline for downloading handouts has been extended to 5pm ET on Monday, November 5.
If you attended CE courses during the Annual Session, you probably noticed that you only received a course outline with lined pages for taking notes during the course.  You may download the traditional course handout materials including PowerPoint presentations, as permitted by each speaker, to supplement your educational experience free of charge.
To access the course materials visit the ADA Live Learning Center [1]. Log on using your e-mail address and reference ID, which you received via e-mail from Experient, the ADA’s registration vendor. Once logged in simply follow the instructions on the page to gain access to your content.

October 25th, 2007 · Comments Off on Treatment Planning CEs Imperative to Good Dentistry

Last Friday I was in Boca Raton leading a treatment planning training session for the Goldman Study Club. We had about 50 dentists in attendance. The first 2/3 of the day was lecture, then we did treatment planning for 1/3 of the day. I have found that while many dentists love the procedural part of […]

In addition to the gray market dental products mentioned in a previous blog, like those that claim to be manufactured by 3M, counterfeit Colgate toothpaste was found earlier this year in many discount stores across New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland, according to a June press release by the FDA. The imitation product does […]

Implants: One or Two Stage?

October 24th, 2007 · Comments Off on Implants: One or Two Stage?

Which type of implant placement procedure is better, one or two stage? It seems that dentists who place implants have their own opinions, backed by personal experience and training. A new study posted by The Cochrane Library suggests that the methods offer similar results for patients. The study’s authors, M. Esposito, M.G. Grusovin, E. Martinis, P. Coulthard, and H.V. Worthington, […]

Flash Websites Don’t Work

October 23rd, 2007 · No Comments

The following is just one of several great bits of advice from the TNT Dental [1] newsletter.

Flash” refers to the moving photos on a Website, and search engine spiders do not like it! They look for live text. A good way to tell whether your site has live text is to copy and paste the words. When words won’t copy and paste, they are part of the artwork and not what we call live text. Search engine spiders won’t recognize them. Flash Websites work the same as HTML Websites…. False!

Lasers in Dentistry

October 23rd, 2007 · No Comments

I have had some extensive exposure with the diode laser, a CO2 laser, and some experience with the Hoya hard tissue laser. Before working with lasers, though, I used an electrosurgery unit and did not see the need for lasers. I thought the cost was prohibitive, as well. I started using the Odyssey diode (on […]
