Dental Economics released the publication’s survey regarding industry trends in the July issue. The findings covered four areas: the DENTSPLY distributor consolidation initiative; current CEREC use and upgrades; current dental laser use, intent to purchase, and popular brands; and 3D cone beam computerized tomography (CBCT). Surveyed dentists included 364 readers, 85% GDs and 15% specialists.
According to polled dentists, 11% own a CEREC machine, and of those, 60% plan to upgrade. (Sirona’s research indicates that the number of CEREC owners in the larger dentist population is closer to 6%.) Regarding dental lasers, 23% reported current ownership of or intent to purchase a hard and/or soft tissue laser. Biolase and Sirona lasers led the pack in popularity.
