Invisalign vs. Orthoclear

July 4th, 2006 · No Comments

I started an orthodontic case with both Invisalign and Orthoclear to compare the systems.  I took two sets of impressions and records.  The online preview, or “Clincheck” with Invisalign and “Orthoview” with Orthoclear appear below.  You can see that Invisalign’s product is more sophisticated.

The packaging that accompany’s the cases are very different and once again Invisalign get’s the edge over Orthoclear.

As far as the aligners themselves go, they both fit well.  The Invisalign aligners have the “topographical” lines in them from the laser manufacturing process and are less “clear” than the Orthoclear product, but as you can see in the images below, it is barely noticable.  My patient felt that the Orthoclear aligners had less of a noticable “edge” on the lower linguals.  I noticed that the Invisalign aligners fit with much more of a “snap”.  This would indicate to me that they will apply more force, however, this is merely speculative.  Invisalign images are first followed by Orthoclear images.
