Apple announced three new versions of existing products today. All three products revolve around Apple’s entry into the video world. The first product is a new iPod that will play video on a new larger 2.5 inch color screen. It is , as usual thinnner than the models it replaces. A 30 Gig model is $299, and a 60 Gig model is $399. You can now play music, audio books, podcasts, view slide shows of your pictures, watch home movies, music video’s, and TV shows like last years episodes of Lost and Desperate Housewives. It will hold up to 15,000 songs and full album art, or 25,000 photo’s, or 150 hours of video with 20 hours of battery life.
iTunes 6.0 is also new and features music video’s and TV shows for download.
The last new product is the new iMac G5. It is more compact than the previous models and has some neat new video capabilities. It has a built in iSight camera and a neat little remote to control video playback.
You can buy TV shows through the iTunes store. Desperate housewives and Lost from ABC—which is owned by Disney. “I know those guys,” says Jobs. Going to offer 5 shows on itunes—Lost, Desperate Housewives, Night Stalker and two Disney Channel shows. You can buy current episodes the day after they are broadcast on the air. Shows are downloaded commercial free, no ads! About a 10-to 20-minute download for one episode. $1.99 per episode of for current and previous season tv shows. Watch them on your computer or iPod.
