Digital Photography Hands-On Workshop

Hands-On Photography Course for Dental Clinicians This is an introductory course for the beginning and intermediate photographer. Each participant will have the opportunity to:

  • Learn easy techniques for capturing intra-oral photographs
  • Learn to set up your own portrait studio within your office
  • Learn to take stunning portraits of your patients
  • Experiment with different cameras (Kodak DCS 14C, Canon D10, D20, ID Mark II)
  • Experiment with different printers (Epson Pro 2400 & 4000, Canon I 9900, I 5000, and Kodak’s new dyesublimation printers)

September 22, 2005 8:00 am-5:00 pm

Instructors will include a professional photographer from Kodak. He and Dr. Hornstein will work individually to help each participant learn the basic techniques of intra-oral and portrait photography.

Day One workshop will include:

  • Basic concepts of photography
  • Setting up a photography studio within a dental office
  • Live model portrait photography
  • Learning optimal camera settings
  • Prime lens vs. telephoto lens
  • Learning and practicing the secrets of optimal lighting (fixed lights and studio flash)
  • Experimenting with background settings
  • Learning to choose accessories and equipment best suited to your needs

Two additional instructors will join Dr. Hornstein to help teach Power Point and Photoshop CS techniques to be used in your office every day. Hands-On Photography Course for Dental Clinicians This is an introductory course for the beginning and intermediate photographer.

  • Learn easy techniques for capturing intra-oral photographs
  • Learn to set up your own portrait studio within your office
  • Learn to take stunning portraits of your patients
  • Experiment with different cameras (Kodak DCS 14C, Canon D10, D20, ID Mark II)
  • Experiment with different printers (Epson Pro 2400 & 4000, Canon I 9900, I 5000, and Kodak’s new dyesublimation printers)

Day Two workshop will include:

  • Critiquing Day One images
  • Image manipulation
  • Photoshop CS darkroom techniques
  • Printing on canvas, matte, velvet, semi-gloss, luster, and high gloss paper.
  • Purchase any necessary materials and equipment from Day One or Two to help you set up your own photography studio through Norman Camera of Michigan.
